The exhibition covers nearly 3,000 sq. m. Thirteen halls will display the musician's personal belongings, rare documents, guitars, and little-known photos and videos from the family archive—a total of over 300 exhibits. Tsoi's family and his relatives helped to collect those items. One of the exhibition halls features an installation by dreamlaser.
The exhibition is organized by the Planet9 bureau, known for creating exhibitions such as Balabanov, First Position. Russian Ballet, and many others. In 2022, they launched the project Viktor Tsoi: The Hero's Journey at the Moscow Manege, which set a record for the longest-running exhibition in the venue's modern history. The new version includes three additional halls and never-before-seen exhibits.
The final hall features a multimedia installation designed and implemented by dreamlaser.
Dedicated to Viktor Tsoi's song The Last Hero, this part of the exhibition creates an atmosphere that immerses the viewer in the symbolic world of music and light. The key element is a dynamic light installation that interacts with the musical accompaniment. Rows of zoom bars, directional lighting devices, are synchronized with the song’s rhythms, creating stunning light patterns that shift to the beat.
The room is lined with mirrors, creating an illusion of infinite reflection and visually blurring the boundaries of reality. Visitors see their reflections and become part of the installation, which allows them to associate themselves with the lyrical hero of the song, as if stepping into the role of The Last Hero. Behind one of the mirrored walls there is a pixel screen, the image of which breaks through the surface of the mirror like a hologram emerging from the void. The screen displays an image of Viktor Tsoi singing a song. This effect deepens the sense of immersion, creating a magical feeling of the musician's presence in the room, where every visitor gazing into the mirror can feel a connection with the hero of the song.
To bring this installation to life, dreamlaser provided all the necessary lighting equipment:
- 40 DS-192 12x40w zoom bars,
- 160 LED sticks 270 used as LED screens.
We also set up a server room to ensure the installation runs smoothly throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition can be seen until autumn 2025. More details about the exhibition: https://tsoylegend.ru
