From May 7 to 9, the Hero City of Volgograd will once again host Light of the Great Victory, a large-scale audiovisual production commemorating the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Created by the Agency for Cultural and Public Events, the Connection of Times Center for the Implementation of Cultural Projects, and dreamlaser, this year's production presents a new artistic interpretation of one of the city's most significant commemorative events.
For the tenth consecutive year, the performance will unfold at the "To the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad" memorial complex on Mamayev Kurgan, the city's iconic memorial hill. This edition will feature the timeless music of legendary composer Alexandra Pakhmutova, whose works have become an integral part of Russia's cultural heritage. In a special appearance, she will perform some of her most celebrated compositions live on a grand piano set upon a unique water stage.
