Shows of Victory Forge immersive installation will take place from May, 1 to May, 12 from 11:00 to 19:00 in the manege building (Kremlin, building 1a). The event, timed to coincide with the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, is organized by GBU NO «Nizhegorodsky Kremlin» and multimedia studio dreamlaser with support from the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Victory Forge immersive installation tells of the remarkable feats of labour by Gorky residents, working at the city's factories during the war. This is a project at the confluence of theatre and media arts, aiming at giving the spectator an opportunity to experience what it feels like to be a part of a shared history.
«The exposition is devoted to all those who worked at the factories of Gorky and Gorky region and whose selfless labour brought the Victory closer. The installation will give a chance to experience deep emotions and get a better understanding of the scale of what was done by the people on the home front. The entrance to the exhibition will be free of charge and we hope that many Nizhny Novgorod residents and visitors of the city will see the installation. Kremlin has a wonderful memorial “Gorky for the front!” And the new show will help further explore this important topic,» said the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin.
The installation will cover the area of 750 square metres. It will resemble a labyrinth with locations symbolizing stages of the war.
— An array of techniques is used to create the atmosphere: architecture, light, music, graphic, perspective, interaction with different materials, the presence of actors, — shared the details of the installation creation, the concept author, creative director of dreamlaser studio Anton Kolodyazhnyy.
The script was written based on historical facts. It was developed by Yulia Alekhina, author and editor of local history books, member of Nizhny Novgorod Tour Guide Guild, together with the employees of GAZ History Museum and History Museum of «Krasnoe Sormovo» factory as well as Andrey Shangin, consultant, senior research fellow of NGIAMZ. Documental records of the people's feat — photos, videos, names of factory workers — will be projected at the walls of the space.
Maksim Khrychev, sound designer, has created a different sound score for every location: «I based my work on symbols and meanings declared by dreamlaser team and my own sensations on the subject of war: I tried to capture the vague sound of tension in the air, adding to it the rustling in the atmosphere — extraordinarily vivid and clear, as if your mind tries to grab something familiar and understandable».
Vivid and unpredictable atmosphere is created by actors who exist in the space together with the spectators, living the stories of their characters in silence. Overall, 25 actors of Nizhny Novgorod theatres take part in the installation.
«After a major renovation, Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin becomes the main public space of Nizhny Novgorod. It is not an accident that this unique project opens in Kremlin in the year of the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory. It was created by people from Nizhny Novgorod, whose ancestors worked at factories, providing the Red Army with fighter aircraft, tanks, cannons and mortars. The contribution of people of Gorky to the Great Victory must be known and remembered by all generations» notes Nizhny Novgorod region government administrator Timofey Shulga.
Free entrance. Age restriction: 6+. The action is accompanied with bright and frequent light flashes, that is why the viewing is not recommended for young children and persons sensitive to intensive light.
