The animation work "Bees of the Future: Connecting Worlds" was created as part of an open call and is being showcased on the facade of the EXPO Hall Shining Hat, built in Osaka specifically for the World Expo 2025. The work can be viewed from June 13 to July 13, 2025.
The theme and philosophy of EXPO 2025 is "Designing Society for Our Future Life." This approach involves an interactive process that includes people from different generations and with different perspectives, based on the principles of co-creation, where every member of society can contribute to shaping comfortable living conditions and fostering development. As part of the expo, an open call was held: multimedia artists from around the world presented their works reflecting the idea of an innovative approach to life. The best of them are being projected onto the EXPO Hall Shining Hat, which hosts the key events of the exhibition, including the opening ceremony.
The work created by dreamlaser revolves around a narrative about the life of bees. The organization of life for these tiny creatures represents a remarkable model of society, where each individual, by fulfilling their calling, working, and creating, contributes to the greater good — shaping and perfecting the surrounding reality.
“For us, international competitions are a way to address important topics through multimedia, to be part of a global cultural context, and most importantly, to allow ourselves to let go of control and work in a state of creative flow,” says Anastasia Mendela, the operational director of the creative studio at dreamlaser.
